The American Heart Association Heartsaver® Instructor Course is taught in a blended-learning format. Instructor candidates must complete the
Heartsaver® Instructor Essentials Online course followed by an in-class session.

As a Heartsaver® Instructor, candidates can teach the following courses:
• Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED
• Heartsaver® CPR AED
• Heartsaver® First Aid
• Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED
• Be 18 years of age or older
• Have a current AHA Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED card (only AHA certification cards are accepted)
• Be proficient in your First Aid CPR AED skills
• Complete the
Heartsaver® Instructor Essentials Online course (sold separately)
Certification Requirements
Candidates who successfully complete the steps listed below will receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver® Instructor certification card, valid for two years.
Step 1: Have a current American Heart Association Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED certification
Step 2: Complete the
Heartsaver® Instructor Essentials Online course (sold separately)
Step 3: Obtain the Instructor manuals:
Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED Instructor Manual or
eBook (sold separately)
Step 4: Complete the in-class session conducted by Training Center Faculty
Step 5: Align with Heart CPR Training Center (alignment is automatic for new instructors)
Step 6: Successfully be monitored teaching a course (This will be done day of class) –
Step 7: Provide proof of equipment including Manikins, AED trainer and course videos within 90 days of Instructor course. (Email pictures to contact@arisesafety.com)
Training Center Alignment
The American Heart Association requires Instructor candidates to align with an authorized Training Center (TC). All Instructors candidates who successfully complete the Instructor course will automatically be aligned with Arise Safety and CPR for 1 year.
What you need for Class
The following items are REQUIRED for the class:
• Proof that you are at least 18 years old (photo ID)
• Current AHA Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED card (only AHA certification cards are accepted)
• Heartsaver® Instructor Essentials Online course completion certificate
• AHA Heartsaver® Instructor manual or eBook
Monitor Session
All Instructor candidates must complete a class monitor session with Training Center Faculty on the day of the Instructor course.During the monitor session instructor candidates will be evaluated on several key competencies including:
- Course Delivery
- Testing and Remediation
- Professionalism
Upon successful completion of the monitor session, the instructor will receive their Instructor card. Should remediation be required, a new monitor session must be completed with-in the 90 days of alignment.
Required AHA Equipment:
Instructor candidates must have AHA compliant equipment including Manikins, AED trainer and course videos to teach a course for the monitor session.
Note: You must provide proof of this by taking taking a picture of your equipment and sending it contact@arisesafety.com. This must be done within 90 days of completing your instructor course.
Program Policies for Instructor Courses
Refund Policy: Class fees are nonrefundable and no refunds will be issued once fees have been submitted. Class materials and supplies such as course manuals and textbooks, CPR masks and all other class supplies are nonrefundable.
Transfer Policy: The class transfer fee is $75.00 and registered participants are required to request a class transfer at least 72 hours prior to the class date in order to be eligible to transfer. Transfers will only be granted if space is available in a future class with-in 60 days of the original class date. Only (1) transfer is allowed per registration.
No Show Policy: If a registered participant is a no-show and absent from their scheduled class, the participant will not receive a refund of any kind and is not eligible for a class transfer.
Class Space is Limited: If a registered participant decides to leave the class for any reason, they will NOT receive a refund and will NOT be eligible to transfer to a different class.
Cancelled Class Policy: Heart CPR reserves the right to cancel classes as needed. In the event a class is canceled registered participants will be offered a transfer to a different class at no additional charge.
