Time Commitment for AHA Instructor Certification

To become an AHA Instructor through Arise and RESQ Training Services, you’ll need to dedicate 15 to 25 hours, depending on the course and prerequisites. This includes time spent preparing for the instructor certification course and completing necessary evaluations. Candidates must hold a current AHA provider card in each discipline they plan to teach, such as BLS (Basic Life Support) or ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support).

Our program includes:

• An 8-hour instructor course
• Opportunities to audit additional classes at no extra charge
• Skill evaluations where you’ll demonstrate your ability to both perform and assess life-saving skills

Once you complete the instructor training, you must teach under observation to earn your official AHA instructor certification.

Class Preparation & Administrative Duties for AHA Instructors

After becoming an AHA Instructor, you’ll need to prepare thoroughly for each class. Class prep typically requires 1-2 hours and involves:

• Ensuring that each student has the correct AHA provider manuals
• Setting up equipment, including manikins and audiovisual gear
• Handling administrative tasks like printing certification cards and submitting paperwork to Arise and RESQ Training Services

Post-class responsibilities include cleaning the equipment and sending required documentation to the Training Site.

AHA Instructor Renewal Training

AHA Instructors are required to renew their credentials every two years. Arise and RESQ Training Services offers a 4-6 hour instructor renewal course that covers new protocols and skill refreshers. Additionally, AHA Instructors must stay updated on the latest AHA guidelines and may need to complete an online update approximately every five years when new protocols are released.

Financial Investment for AHA Instructor Certification

The financial cost of becoming an AHA Instructor includes both course fees and necessary equipment. Course costs are as follows:

• BLS Instructor: $520
• Heartsaver Instructor: $575
• ACLS Instructor: $520

Instructors will also need to invest in teaching equipment, including adult and infant manikins, AED trainers, pocket masks, and other essential items. Equipment costs range from $50 to $600, depending on the quality and quantity required.

Arise and RESQ Training Services provide a waiver for the first year’s Training Center alignment fee for instructors who complete our program, reducing initial setup costs.
